The home is designed for a young couple in the new district 'Nieuw Leyden’. The triangular building site is divided into two plots. Besides a maximum building envelope and a number of technical requirements, there is a complete freedom for individuals to build their own property. This entirely without the famous Dutch beauty committee.
The concept is based on the fact that the house is a monolith and is included in the rigid urban plan. A dark pearl on the waterfront. By ‘scattering’ the windows on the facade, the monolithic appearance has been ensured and they do not disturb the building mass. Even the cat flap is included in this game. By extracting mass from the monolith, outdoor space is created. This is accentuated with the color white.
